Rev. Dr. Charles E. Thompson, Senior Pastor


Charles Eugene Thompson is a native of Queens, New York. He spent his childhood in Providence, Rhode Island before relocating as a youth to Henderson, North Carolina. Dr. Thompson is the second of nine children and a second-generation pastor.


His Christian journey began with salvation and baptism at a young age. Growing up, he served on the Usher’s Ministry, Youth Choir, Male Chorus and Youth Missionaries. Dr. Thompson has always had a passion for ministry and evangelism and has been actively involved in both areas throughout his life.


As a former Child Welfare Social Worker in North Carolina, he has been a compassionate community advocate. Always sensing the call of God upon his life, he has served in the Gospel Ministry for over twenty years. His ministerial experience includes prior service as an Associate Minister, a Youth Pastor, and as Senior Pastor of Young’s Chapel Baptist Church, Roxboro, North Carolina. He has served as Senior Pastor of Shiloh Institutional Baptist Church, Charlotte, North Carolina since 2010.

Dr. Thompson earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from North Carolina Central University; a Master of Divinity Degree in Preaching and Worship from Shaw University Divinity School; Clinical Pastoral Education at Wake Forest Baptist Health; a Doctor of Ministry Degree in Preaching and Leadership from United Theological Seminary; He also serves as an Adjunct Professor to master’s level students at Apex School of Theology.

Dr. Thompson is happily married to the former Charlena Carlton. He is the proud father of four daughters: Gabrielle Elizabeth, Jamisyn-Leigh Grace, Madison Faith, and Aaliyah Monet. He is just a nobody trying to tell everybody about somebody who can change anybody. That somebody is Jesus Christ!
